A group of illegal immigrants plans to hold a rally at Georgia State University and then participate in an act of civil disobedience.
At the rally Tuesday afternoon, at least seven illegal immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children plan to speak out about their experiences and to publicly identify themselves as being in the country illegally.
Along with supporters, they then plan to proceed to a nearby intersection to sit down and block traffic, risking arrest to draw attention to the issues important to them.
They say they hope their actions will encourage more young people in a similar situation to come forward, declare their illegal status and fight for rights to education. They also want to encourage legislatures not to pass bills targeting illegal immigrants.
